Relationships - AAAARGH!!

No, Lara and I are getting on just fine.

Unfortunatley, I just heard that a good friend of mine split up with his long term girlfriend* today*. It's always very sad when that happens, especially when you think it could be "the* one"!! Well mate, if you read this - I told you so*!!

Anyway, Today WAS my last sunday at St James, which is still very wierd. The youth session was kool and some of the young people had put together a kinda leaving presentation for me which was really lovely. Loads of them went to the front and said stuff that they would remember me for. It's good that it was a leaving type presentation, cos I'm sure that some of the stuff they said would have raised eyebrows (and questions about my general sanity). But anyway, it really was a nice gesture.

We also had the AGM* after the morning service which was nice (except for the bit where there was heated discussion about the new church PA system, but I can't really say too much here, other than it took up a lot of the meeting and didn't really achieve much.(but that's what AGM's* are for!!

Interesting question that arose and I have to say I've never really thought about it before - Is it a good or bad idea to pass round a collection plate in services, or even to just suggest that there is a plate at the back, or does this just fuel newcomers/visitors preconcieved ideas that the church just wants your money? Surely giving (TO the church) should be a thing for regular attendees/members and they should be doing standing orders/regular cheques etc anyway? Oh I don't know, but please comment and let me know your thoughts.

Anyway, that's enough rambling(s) for one day.

See the extended entry for what I learned (plus find out what all those **'s mean)

*GEOFF *again!! *elusive *JOKE!! - I really am gutted for you!! *APCM actually *definately APCM's *asterisk(sp)

What I learned today..,

  • APCM's are dull and no-one even seemed to noitce that there was nothing in the reports about young people (however, some did comment to me that they were pleased to see we spent less on the youth work this year)
  • Prayer is amazing!! - after tripping in a rabbit hole yesterday and my ankle really hurting, Lara and I prayed that the pain would be COMPLETELY gone by this morning (knowing that it wouldn't be gone really)... and it WAS!! (I actually had to stamp my foot really hard when I got up, just to check that the pain wasn't gonna come back - and it didn't - WOOHOO)
  • The young people at St James are really lovely, and I'm gonna miss them LOADS!!

And I'm gonna stop there, cos that says it all. Bye!!
