I guess I should be in bed...
So, I'm at my 4th NSYFC staff conference, and so far it's been quite good.
I managed to get a lift with a teammate (although I ended up driving her car for her) which left Lara with the Mondeo for the week. So everything was left in a peaceful state on Monday, and now it's late tuesday/early Wednesday, and I'm quite tired.
You don't realise how much being on the go all day affects you, and with full English breakfasts each morning, and chance to socialise each evening, I usually don't even stop to think how tired I am until I get home on Friday.
I've been trying to do a fair amount of networking with other YFC centres since I arrived, which has been good, but means that, as yet, I haven't spent a huge amount of time with the NSYFC team or been to many sessions (in all fairness, in the heavy theology sessions I do get "brain-freeze" quite easily anyway) and I also got set a really interesting task through the MLS sessions that I'm a part of (but I'll write more about that in my leadership ramblings at a later date.
I spent this evening taking part in a pub quiz (which I won with the Rugby YFC team) and then went back to another guy's "posh" room to play with the PS2 & eye-toy that I brought along.
Having been back at my (single) room for about an hour, I've been sitting here looking through photos of Lara & the kids on my laptop, and realising just how much I actually miss them when I'm away. It's so easy to keep so busy at these events that you don't get to think much about family, but then in the evenings when you're all alone, you start thinking about them and missing them. And then, usually by the morning I'm too busy thinking about trying to wake up and get to breakfast to think to say how much I miss them all when I call.
So there you go - the blog is the ideal solution to the yearly "busyness" problem.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to a few extra sessions, and maybe even start reading my next book "lead like Jesus", but for now I really should go to bed.
